Thrive Life Skills was founded in 2010 to encourage a courageous and peaceful way forward from suffering and trauma. Susan Habegger has been traveling all over the world teaching her courses. Thrive teaching is culturally relevant with insight to the participants’ everyday experiences. Multiple courses have been taught in Northern Uganda to clergy, teachers, counselors, women, students, Papahdias (priest wives), and small business owners:
- Moving Forward From Trauma
- Discovering Our Identity
- Entrepreneurship
- Ministry Enterprise
- Needle & Thread [Expressing the Tapestry Of Our Journey]
In addition to teaching her courses, Mama Susan, as she is called, also met with clergy about a future Counseling Center. The effects of their 20-year war affects everyone in northern Uganda.
Mama Susan assisted in the first Papahdia Retreat presented by Kh. Annette Close with translation by Eunice Ajok (now in midwifery school). The second Papahdia Retreat was given by Mama Susan utilizing her Needle and Thread course.
The Mother’s Union has grown significantly under Mama Susan’s advisement. Improved sewing skills, new product introduction, and exploring new markets have resulted in a more vibrant women’s small business.
